On Being Human

What the
contract
doesn’t say

Beyond the Contract

By day, I work as an attorney specializing in finance and real estate — fields where precision is everything and ambiguity is the enemy. My job is to find the right answer inside a contract, a clause, a number.

But the longer you stare at those smooth, airtight surfaces, the more you notice what they can’t contain.

Every time I encounter a human situation that no legal framework can fully account for, I’m reminded that the world outside the law is wider — and stranger — than anything written inside it.

“The law answers the question.
But I keep wondering what the question missed.”

Warm tubes,
old records, older books

When the day ends, I turn on the amplifier, put on a record, and open a book. I’m not looking for answers — just what I’d call elegant misunderstandings. The kind only a slow, quiet evening can produce.

Numbers,
clauses, contracts

I work in finance and real estate law. Beneath every clean transaction is a person — with desires, fears, and pressures that no clause was written to hold. I see that every day.

The Imperfect Human

Everything is being optimized. Algorithms sort, rank, and predict. Anything that can’t be reduced to a signal is quietly pushed aside.

In that clean, frictionless world, I find myself drawn to the opposite: mistakes, warmth, slowness, the beautiful mess of being human.

The more efficient the world becomes, the more I value what it can’t capture — the things that slip through logic, unchanged and irreducibly themselves.

A Step Aside

The faster the world moves, the more I want to step aside and watch. This space was built from that impulse.

I write about what hides behind systems — the things logic can’t quite translate, the truths that are clumsy but real.
